Publication Guidelines & Terms

Participation in the Young Artists Anthology is open to registered schools, nurseries and educational settings in the United Kingdom, arranged through a designated member of school staff.

Individual artworks are submitted on behalf of pupils by the participating school. Parents and carers order copies of the finished anthology once production is complete.

All submitted artwork must be the child's own original work, created for this project.

Tracings, direct copies of existing images, printed material, stickers or collages using copyrighted imagery are not permitted.

Artwork should be created on the supplied drawing template so that the correct artwork ID and barcode are captured during production.

The child retains ownership of the original artwork they create.

By submitting artwork, the school confirms it has obtained the necessary permissions from parents/carers for that artwork to be photographed, reproduced and published in the anthology and associated materials.

Young Artists Anthology is granted a licence to scan, reproduce, print and distribute the artwork solely for the purpose of producing and supplying the anthology and related campaign resources.

Artwork must not include recognisable brand logos, trademarks, cartoon characters or other third-party copyrighted content.

The anthology celebrates genuine children's creativity. Artwork that has been generated by, or substantially produced with, artificial intelligence tools is not eligible for publication.

Where there is reasonable doubt about the authenticity of a submission, Young Artists Anthology may request confirmation from the school or decline to publish the item.

Artwork must be suitable for a family audience. We cannot publish content that is violent, sexual, discriminatory, hateful, frightening, or that depicts weapons, drugs, alcohol or other unsuitable themes.

Personal or sensitive information (such as full home addresses or contact details) must not be included within the artwork.

To maintain a consistent, high-quality book, artwork should be completed within the boundary of the supplied template and drawn with sufficient contrast to reproduce well in print.

Very faint, incomplete, heavily smudged or damaged artwork may not reproduce to the required standard and may be adjusted, cropped, or in rare cases omitted.

Colours in the printed book may vary slightly from the original due to the nature of the scanning and printing process.

Each artwork is professionally photographed or scanned, cropped and colour-checked before publication.

We may make minor adjustments (such as straightening, cropping to the template area, or light colour correction) to ensure a professional finish. The child's creative content is never altered.

We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The limited personal data we handle (for example a child's first name, year group and school, and a parent's name and email at the point of ordering) is used only to produce the anthology, fulfil orders and communicate about the campaign.

We do not sell personal data. Parent contact details are collected only when a parent chooses to place an order.

The normal workflow is for schools to scan or photograph the supplied artwork sheets and upload them through School Hub.

If a physical collection arrangement is made as an exception, we will explain handling arrangements directly with the school.

The participating school is responsible for distributing templates, collecting completed artwork, and carrying out an initial review of all submissions before sending them for production.

By submitting artwork, the school confirms that all artwork has been reviewed and meets the Young Artists Anthology publication guidelines, and that appropriate parental permissions are in place.

The school is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information provided at registration (school name, contact details and pupil numbers).

Orders are placed by parents/carers using the unique artwork ID provided by the school.

Prices are shown at the point of ordering. A fixed donation of £1.50 from every book sold is returned to the participating school.

Books are produced to order. Estimated production and delivery timescales are indicative and may vary. Please refer to the ordering page for current pricing and delivery information.

While the first quality check rests with the school, Young Artists Anthology reserves the right to decline to publish, or to remove from the anthology, any artwork that does not meet these guidelines — including artwork that is not original, is AI-generated, contains inappropriate or third-party content, or does not meet publication standards.

This decision is made at our reasonable discretion and is final. Our aim is always to include every child; refusal is a last resort used only where a submission is genuinely unsuitable.
